Brown and Hannasch Win Second Day of WWA Team
Challenge Big Stone Event
Chris Gasser - 5/2/2004
ORTONVILLE, MN - Tony Brown and Curt Hannasch took the lessons
they learned from the first day event to win the second day of
the World Walleye Association Team Challenge tournament held on
Big Stone Lake May 2, 2004. This was a combined South Dakota/Minnesota
Team Challenge event.
Tony Brown and Curt Hannasch trolled #5 Shad Raps on leadcore
near the Hartford Beach area in 13-15 ft of water to catch their
winning weight of 12.25-pounds.
Tony said "The wind pushed the mudline into the shore we were
fishing and that helped us today." Brown and Hannasch are from
the South Dakota Team Challenge division.
Day one winners Dusty Wilkens and Wes Wilkens placed second on
day two with a weight of 10.35-pounds. The Wilkens were fishing
the same spot as day one on the Minnesota side pitching jigs to
shallow rocks. They also caught the big fish of the day, a 5.44-pounder.
"We caught the big fish on the third cast of the day." Dusty said.
Donald Fellbaum and Troy Fellbaum place third with a weight of
8.42-pounds.
"This makes up for our one fish yesterday." Troy said. The Fellbaum's
were trolling #5 Shad Raps behind planer boards on the far North
end of the lake.
