LAMPEN AND VANDEMARK WIN WWA TEAM CHALLENGE
AT LAKE ERIE
Chris Gasser - 6/22/2003
Bolles Harbor- Doug Lampen and Steve Vandermark blew away the
rest of the field at the third stop in the World Walleye Association
Michigan Team Challenge division held June 8th on Lake Erie.
Lampen and VandeMark weighed a limit of 45.05 pounds to take the
win and the $1310 first place prize.
Lampen and VandeMark also had the big fish of the tournament weighing
12.15-pounds. The big fish prize was $200 plus an additional $150
donated by TR-1 Sales of Michigan.
Derek Wilkes and Brian Maurer were second with 29.48 pounds.
Jeff Vereeke and Rick Devries were third with 29.07 pounds.
All the top teams were very closed mouth about the details of
the winning techniques due to an upcoming tournament the following
weekend, but the teams admitted to tolling with crawler harnesses.
All but one team caught their five fish limit proving once again
that Lake Erie is a true walleye factory.
"I would like to thank Joe Bitz from Erie Party Shoppe and Docks
for arranging a tent and a cook out after the weigh in." said
Jeff Russell, Michigan Tournament Director.
I would also like to thank Jerry from Evergreen Bait for providing
the food for the cook out and also a special thank you to Gary
Bowman from TR-1 sales of Michigan for contributing money for
the Big Fish Pot. All the extras were really appreciated by the
competitors.
