Schleim and Dohman Win Big at Lake Oahe Two
Day Final
Chris Gasser - 8/14/2004
Pierre, SD - A rather disappointing start to the season ended
anything but disappointing for Carlyle Schliem and Bruce Dohman
who topped the field by more than six pounds to win the World
Walleye Association South Dakota Team Challenge event held August
7th and 8th on Lake Oahe out of Pierre South Dakota.
Schliem and Dohman caught a limit each day of the two-day event
for a total weight of 23.37-pounds that included the big fish
each day weighing 3.06lbs on day one and 4.04lbs on day two. Trolling
crankbaits on leadcore line in 25-30 ft of water in the Peoria
Flats area proved to be the winning technique for Schliem and
Dohman.
Second place went to Dusty and Wes Wilkens who also caught a two
day limit for 17.14-pounds. Dusty and Wes fished generally the
same area of the Peoria Flats but used nightcrawlers on bottom
bouncers on day one then switched to crankbaits on day two.
Monty Gall and David Wells placed third with a 9 fish catch that
weighed 12.81-pounds. They too were trolling crankbaits on the
Peoria Flats.
