World Walleye Association Regional Championships
to be at Big Stone Lake and the Illinois River
Chris Gasser - 8/22/2005
Fond Du Lac, WI - Steve Poll, Executive Director of the World Walleye
Association has announced that the East Regional Championship will
be September 24th and 25th on the Illinois River at Henry, Illinois
and the West Regional Championship will be October 8th and 9th on
Big Stone Lake at Ortonville, Minnesota.
"We are very excited about the locations of the Regional Championships."
Said Poll, "Big Stone Lake has some excellent numbers of walleyes
with the potential of big fish. And just about every technique can
produce the winning basket." Poll continued, "Going to the Illinois
River in the fall will be a change for many anglers as most circuits
only fish there in the spring. Everyone knows the Illinois' potential
for Sauger but will a team be able to catch any of those big Walleyes
that are in the Illinois River, we will see."
Teams that fished at least two one-day qualifiers in a particular
division or regional open event will be eligible to fish the Regional
Championship for that division.
The top twenty teams based on total points after each Regional Championship
and the top five finishing teams based on position of finish at
each Regional Championship will be invited to fish the World Walleye
Association National Championship in the spring of 2006.
Further details about the regional championships will be announced
in the coming days on the WWA website www.worldwalleye.com.
